Eh? Oh shit! Fuck!

Lord Incinerous and the Lost Soul

“Great. Just great.” Eliana thought to herself as she looked on at the elemental chaos the stretched beyond her eyesight. “Why exactly did we agree to follow these guys again?” Orion asked as he also surveyed the landscape. Eliana couldn’t quite remember what she had been thinking when she followed the rest of this rag tag party into the portal. Sure, it would be helpful to have them along on her journey, but this was definitely not her journey. Whatever gain she had found in helping them at first was now being replaced by a severe sense of doubt. Although part of that was Orion. If he had a bad feeling, she did too.

Eliana’s eyes finally settled on a volcano in the distance. The only landmark of any sort in the barren skyline. “Guess that’s where we have to go if we were going to get out of this place any time soon. One thing is for sure” Eliana thought to Orion. “there’s no changing our minds now. Prepare yourself.” As Eliana thought this the rest of the party had decided the same as them. Head towards the impending doom the volcano seemed to hold.

Thonlok and his hippogriff lead the way towards the volcano. As they got closer Eliana started to see the same as everyone else. A swarm of demons surrounded the base of the volcano. “Looks like fun to me.” Eliana thought, getting herself ready to charge right into battle. “Calm yourself Eliana.” Orion warned her. “There will be plenty of chances for battle. Save what energy you can, where you can.” Eliana snapped back from her conversation with Orion as she heard one of the demons speaking.

“He would dare to send more of you?! I will not tolerate this!” the demon hissed at the group. Eliana looked around at the others wondering who exactly this party was associated with, only to find the others just as confused as herself. She could see the others were as unsure about how to handle the situation as herself and decided to follow Orions instructions. Although not as gracefully as he had hoped.

“And who exactly do you think sent us?” Eliana snapped, her irritation and power eminating a little from her eyes. The demon, feeling it may be better to answer her than fight told Eliana they smell of the undeath prince; Lord Orcus. “Who the hell is that?” Eliana thought. But before Orion could answer her they were both caught of guard by Thonlok’s burly voice speaking Elven to the demons. “Tree cast in many squirrel.” Eliana looked to Thonlok with great confusion and a slight amount of anger. How dare he take such a chance when diplomacy mattered so much? But as Eliana went to say something Orion stopped her and pointed his head toward the demons. Her jaw almost dropped as she saw many of them nodding their heads in agreement. “Sometimes I wonder how his silly tactics work so well.” Eliana thought. But her surprised showed on her face and the intimidating effect she had held over the lead demon lost it’s use.

Eliana began preparing herself for a battle, now sure her attempt at avoiding it had failed. “Look.” Orion thought to her. “They are not attacking. It is almost like they are afraid to. Strange.” Eliana surveyed the demon’s faces to find Orion was right. They showed a hesitation to attack. That was strange. They out numbered her and the party by far. What was there to fear? But before she could figure it out, Thonlok started speaking to the demons again. This time he grunted many random words and some of the demons seemed so moved by his words that they allied with the party. Eliana was astounded. She watched on as Thonlok gave each of the new allies a rock, and each one look at the rock like it was the best treasure. The largest demon seeming the most impressed by this simplistic gift. Perhaps this was something she would never understand.

The rest of the party seemed to be trying to figure out why the demons smelled undeath when Vedi suddenly remembered a relic they had gathered on a journey that Eliana had not been a part of. She watched as he reached into his pack only to find that the relic had long since been missing. This is bad. This meant that Vedi had been touched by the relic. The stench of undeath was not leaving any time soon. Luckily, this seemed to be the only thing that was stopping the demons from attacking the party. For now.

The party made a final attempt at asking the demons to let them pass. With all of the allies that they had now gained, the lead demon had no other choice but to allow it. Eliana went along with the group, still at her guard in case this was a trick of some sort. But the party made it through and to the cave entrance. All except the new allies and Thonloks new friends, the demons. As they tried to follow into the cave shackles formed around their legs, keeping them at the entrance. Thonlok stopped and went back saying farewell to the demons. Eliana could see how much it meant to them that Thonlok cared. Perhaps the Ogre was smarter than he seemed.

The cave was unlike any other cave Eliana had encountered. She had started to become accustom to such abnormalities. The walls of the cave were a lava blood color. She reached towards one of the walls when Orion snapped at her not to touch it. Surprised at how rude Orion was being Eliana found herself getting more and more angry by the minute. Even the simplest of things made her fill with rage that she could not explain. “The walls.” Orion thought to her. Realizing this rage wasn’t her own she started to try to repress it and hold it off. Orion had a little more trouble in doing so and growled. Eliana was about to scold him for his weakness until Starry saw a shadow figure along the wall. It was there for a moment then darted down the passage way. The party deciding to follow, hoping maybe he would lead us to the person we were after.

After bypassing several small passages they finally ended up at the entrance of a dimly lit cavern. Eliana decided in her haste to fight, to attempt sneaking into the cavern. Unfortunately, her mind split so many ways, so didn’t see the rock until it was too late and slipped, alerting all enemies that they had arrived.

(What was the first battle about? I forgot and my notes don’t say? I’ll add it here when I remember. lol.)

The shadow reappeared. This time creeping up right beside Orion. Before Eliana had any time to react, Orion fell into the shadow disappearing from sight.

Eliana screamed in rage as she watched her companion and best friend disappear into the shadow. She was so wrought with rage and sadness that she could only stand and stare at the wall in silence before the shadow reappeared.

“Missing something?” The shadow asked, malice in his voice. “This can’t be happening.” Eliana thought. Although this time, only to herself. “Give me him back!” Eliana demanded, trying to intimidate the shadow. But all that she got in return was a laugh followed by the sadows demands. “I want the death of Lord Incinerous, and in return you can have your precious dog.” And then he was gone.

Eliana was sure that she would find Lord Incinerous and fight until death. With or without the party, she was going to get Orion back, or die. Demons were underhanded and sly. Trusting his words was a big chance, but she really had no choice. Not if she wanted Orion back. Though it seemed she didn’t need to take this journey alone, each party member had their own reasons to why they were going. None-the-less, they were going. The party moved it’s way through small spaces and tunnels, Thonlok mapping out where they were going, so they could get back.

Finally the party came to a chamber, the guards inside. Vedi and Eliana attempting to stealth in, making it until they could see the demon on his throne. Vedi making the first attack. Eliana is sure that is the guy she is after. Staying back for her long range attacks, she watched as the others took down each of the surrounding guards. But her focus was on the guards by the throne, and the demon they were protecting. Each of the guards was easily defeated, and soon after so was Lord Incinerous. Perhaps a little too easy for when the demon died he said “Lord Incinerous will have vengance” followed by a shrill and high pitched cackling. The true Lord Incinerous appearing on the throne, he says “Who dares disturb my keep?”. Eliana looked at the other party members to plan their next strategy when she was caught off guard. There was recognition in their eyes. This demon was no stranger to them.
